Hawaii defeats New Mexico State 24-6
HONOLULU (AP)—Bryant Moniz threw for 294 yards before leaving the game injured at the beginning of the fourth quarter as Hawaii defeated New Mexico State 24-6.
Greg Salas had a school record 16 catches for 196 yards and a touchdown.
Hawaii (4-6, 2-5 Western Athletic Conference) won its second straight game and kept its bowl hopes alive. But the Warriors will need to defeat their next three opponents—San Jose State, Navy and Wisconsin—to earn a berth.
New Mexico State (3-7, 1-4) racked up its fourth straight loss.
Hawaii jumped ahead 14-0 in the first quarter as Leon Wright-Jackson ran for two touchdowns.
Davon House scored a touchdown for the Aggies in the third quarter after intercepting a pass from Moniz. But New Mexico State failed to convert the point after touchdown when Trevor Wallis fumbled the snap.
