Murray State beats Tennessee State 9-6
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Kienan Cullen kicked three field goals and Murray State ended a four-game losing streak with a 9-6 win over Tennessee State on Saturday night.
It was the fewest points allowed by the Racers (2-4, 1-2 Ohio Valley Conference) since Nov. 12, 2005 in a 42-6 win over Austin Peay. The Racers have won at Tennessee State only twice in the past six meetings.
Cullen kicked field goals of 36, 24 and 40 yards.
The Racers entered the game last in total offense in the conference and have scored 46 points in the past five games.
The Tigers (3-4, 2-1) committed three turnovers and did not score until 28 seconds remained in the game when Calvin McNairl passed for a 10-yard touchdown to Joseph Hills. McNairl passed for 62 yards and rushed for 51.
