Murray State beats Tennessee State 24-17

MURRAY, Ky. (AP)—Jeff Ehrhardt threw three touchdown passes to help Murray State hold off Tennessee State 24-17 on Saturday.

Ehrhardt completed 12 of 24 passes for 141 yards with two interceptions for the Racers (5-7, 4-4 Ohio Valley Conference), who pulled out the win despite being outgained 323-249 by the Tigers (8-4, 5-3).

He hit Daniel Ard on a 9-yard touchdown strike to put his team up 10-0 with less than 10 minutes to go in the half. Antonio Heffner hit JaJuan Spillman on a 15-yard score to pull within three points, but Ehrhardt connected with DeAngelo Nelson on a 9-yard score to give the Racers a 17-7 halftime lead.

Dominic Grooms relieved Heffner in the second half and hit Dominic Grooms on a 10-yard pass to pull the Tigers back within three with 9:34 left in the third, but Ehrhardt’s 30-yard scoring connection to Marcus Harris put the game out of reach.

Eric Benson hit a 22-yard field goal at the end of the third for the Tigers, but they were held scoreless in the fourth.
