Robert Morris beats Duquesne 34-27
CORAOPOLIS, Pa. (AP)—Sophomore halfback Myles Russ rushed for a career-high 246 yards and two touchdowns to lead Robert Morris to a 34-27 victory over Duquesne on Saturday.
Erik Cwalinski was 13-of-21 for 165 yards and two touchdowns for Robert Morris (2-4, 1-2 Northeast Conference), which ended a four-game losing streak.
Cleo Williams scored two touchdowns and Connor Dixon and Kevin Rombach teamed for 210 passing yards for Duquesne (2-3, 1-2).
The two teams were tied 13-13 at the half and exchanged touchdowns on five consecutive second-half possessions before Cwalinski hit Regis Flowers with the game-winning TD pass with 5:01 remaining. Earlier in the final quarter, Williams had tied the score for Duquesne with a 1-yard plunge to cap a 75-yard drive with 11:31 remaining.
Cwalinski hit T.J. Green with a 5-yard touchdown pass on the Colonials’ first possession of the second half to make it 19-13, but Duquesne went on a 77-yard drive and williams scored on a 2-yard run to make it 20-19.
The Colonials regained the lead with 1:19 left in the third quarter on an 18-yard run by Russ to cap an 80-yard drive, and a two-point conversion made it 27-20 after three quarters.
