Spivey leads Panthers to 27-6 win

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP)—Mark Spivey threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead Prairie View A&M to a 27-6 win over Alabama State on Saturday.

Spivey went 17-of-23 passing with an interception. He also led Prairie View in rushing yards with 46, including 26 on his first quarter TD run.

Joe Townsend caught five passes for 119 yards and a touchdown for the Panthers (5-1, 2-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Gabe Ediae caught three for 100 yards and another score.

Alabama State’s lone score came in third quarter on a 19 yard TD pass from Reid Herchenbach to Darius Mathis.

Herchenbach was 23-of-29 passing for 136 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Alabama State (1-4, 1-1) was held to 40 yards rushing.

Prairie View held a 13-0 lead at halftime.
