MURRAY, Ky. (AP)—Cade Thompson threw for 250 yards and four touchdowns to lead Tennessee-Martin to a 63-38 victory against Murray State on Saturday night.

Roren Thomas also scored four touchdowns, including an 83-yard kick return touchdown, and compiled 223 total yards for the Skyhawks (4-1, 2-0 Ohio Valley Conference).

Thomas opened the scoring with his kickoff return on the game’s first play, and Thompson hooked up with Thomas on a 12-yard pass three minutes later to put the Skyhawks ahead 14-0. Still in the first, Ehrhardt and Daniel Ard connected on a 6-yard pass to pull the Racers within a touchdown.

But Tennessee-Martin’s Dontrell Miller scored on a 10-yard interception return and a 32-yard fumble return to close the opening quarter with a 28-7 lead.

The teams scored twice each in the second, including Brandyn Young’s 6-yard rushing score and Thomas’ 20-yard run that put the Skyhawks up 42-17 at the half.

Thompson connected on touchdown passes of 45 and 29 yards in the third for the Skyhawks. Ehrhardt hit on 47- and 13-yard scores of his own in the same quarter with the Racers trailing 56-31.

But Thompson threw another touchdown pass at the start of the fourth quarter that put the Skyhawks ahead 63-31, and a late Murray State touchdown would not be enough.

Murray State’s Derrick Townsell caught nine passes for 161 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
