McNeese State’s Fourroux throws for 3 TDs in 41-20 win over S. Utah

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP)—Derrick Fourroux passed for 223 yards and three touchdowns to lead McNeese State to a 41-20 win over Southern Utah on Saturday night.

The Cowboys (3-0) gained 400 yards of offense and led 34-7 lead through three quarters while holding Southern Utah (0-4) to 54 yards in the first half.

Fourroux threw touchdown passes of 40 and 44 yards to Quentin Lawrence in the first half. His third scoring pass, a 29-yarder to Elrick Jones, gave McNeese a 34-0 lead with 9:30 left in the third quarter.

Subbing for injured starter Wes Marshall, Cody Stone threw two touchdown passes and scored on an 8-yard run in the second half for Southern Utah.

Stone finished with 205 passing yards, while Johnny Sanchez rushed for 181 yards. Sanchez set up two touchdowns with runs of 66 and 63 yards.

Marshall was taken off on a stretcher midway through the second quarter after being sacked by the Cowboys’ Bryan Smith. Smith was flagged for a personal foul, and Marshall, who sprained his neck, did not return.

McNeese was penalized 18 times for 182 yards.
