HOUSTON (AP)—Case Keenum’s 8-yard keeper midway through the fourth quarter gave Houston the lead in a 38-27 victory Saturday over Colorado State, the Rams’ 10th straight loss.

The Cougars (2-1) won their second in a row after getting blown out by Oregon in the opener. Colorado State (0-3) hasn’t won since beating UNLV last October.

Keenum replaced starter Blake Joseph in the second quarter and had a hand in four touchdowns. He was 18-of-22 passing for 197 yards and two TDs and had two rushing scores.

Caleb Hanie completed 16 of 26 passes for 227 yards and three touchdowns for Colorado State, but most of that was in the first half when the Rams appeared on their way to ending the losing streak.

Houston trailed 24-10 in the third quarter before tying the game with two quick scores. Keenum hit Perry McDaniel for a 27-yard touchdown, and Kenneth Fontenette returned a fumble 37 yards for the tie on the Rams’ next possession.

Colorado State went ahead 27-24 on Jason Smith’s 31-yard field goal with 9:20 remaining.

The Cougars answered with a 60-yard drive in nine plays, capped by Keenum’s first rushing touchdown. He scored again on a 1-yard run with less than two minutes left.

The Rams got two quick scores from unlikely sources in the first quarter and took a 17-3 lead into halftime.

On Colorado State’s first possession, Dion Morton scored his first career touchdown on a 37-yard pass from Hanie. Later in the first quarter, John Mosure had his first career TD catch, a 21-yarder.

The Cougars forced the Rams to punt on the opening drive of the second half, and Houston scored its first touchdown just under two minutes later when Keenum, who completed his first 12 passes, hit L.J. Castille on a 30-yarder. It was Castille’s first career receiving touchdown.
