CONWAY, S.C. (AP)—Tyler Thigpen threw for one touchdown and ran for another to lead Coastal Carolina to a 33-14 win against South Carolina State on Saturday.

Thigpen went 12-of-19 for 199 yards passing and had nine carries for 91 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown run.

With 9:25 left in the third quarter, the Chanticleers (2-2) took the lead for good on a 31-yard field goal by Josh Hoke to bring the score to 10-7.

Santini Washington led Coastal Carolina with three catches for 59 yards, while Perry Parks caught two passes for 39 yards, including a touchdown.

The Bulldogs (1-3) cut the Chanticleers lead to 17-14 when William Ford returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown with 1:04 left in the third quarter. But Coastal shut them down after that.

Ford had seven carries for 35 yards, while Deshawn Baker led South Carolina State with 87 yards on 17 carriers, including a 3-yard touchdown run.

Cleveland McCoy completed 5 of 11 passes for 46 yards for the Bulldogs.
