Pizza-wielding Gamecock quarterback KO’d by moped crashTraditionally, scooter and moped injuries in the SEC East have been inflicted on Georgia, where Bulldog athletes have paid for the convenience of zipping around a crowded, un-parkable campus with multiple accidents over the past few years. But just as it's catching up on the field, South Carolina is closing the gap in two-wheeled danger, too, courtesy of third-string quarterback Andrew Clifford:

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - University of South Carolina back-up quarterback Andrew Clifford will be out for a few weeks after being rushed to the hospital over the weekend when he crashed his moped.

Steve Spurrier said Tuesday that the third-string quarterback will be out for two to three weeks. Clifford was found unconscious after falling off of his moped. Spurrier said the redshirt freshman was not wearing a helmet and was carrying a pizza at the time of the accident.

Clifford, who had to get stitches because of the incident, is listed behind Stephen Garcia and Connor Shaw on the Gamecocks' depth chart.

No word on the status of the pizza.

Thankfully, all indications are Clifford's going to be alright. (You can leave him a "get well soon" note on his Facebook page, where he lists his favorite movie as "Anything with Will Ferrell or Ben Stiller." I'm guessing this was not the first time he's attempted to steer with pizza in hand.) His status is unlikely to affect the Gamecocks' quarterback rotation, which — this being a Steve Spurrier offense — will remain a rotation between Garcia and Shaw as long as events don't force the Ball Coach to just stick with Garcia already. And while scooter injuries are certainly no laughing matter, you have to admit: When you read the headline, Clifford's not the Gamecock quarterback you expected, is he?
