Five different players ran the ball for 268 yards in Oregon's 44-21 win over Arizona State, but none of them was for All-Pac-10 rumbler LeGarrette Blount, whose stat line in his first game "back" from an eight-game suspension for his on-field flip out at Boise State read: zero carries for zero yards on zero plays. Considering he finished with negative yardage before going Artest on the Broncos, it was his best game of the season.
Since he's been with the team and on the sidelines for home games since his suspension, the only real change for Blount this week was the privilege of strapping on the Ducks' well-ventilated, ergonomic Vader motif. At one point late in the blowout, the Autzen Stadium crowd began chanting for their suspended star in a sort of bizarro "Rudy" moment, and let out a roar for a substitution they mistakenly took for LeGarrette, even as he remained on the bench. At least he knows he's loved.
