WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP)—Deon Jones scored 27 points, Andrew Nicholas added 19 and Monmouth ran away from North Carolina A&T in the second half to win 76-61 Saturday night, concluding the Barclays Center Classic.
Down 39-33 early in the second half, Monmouth (3-4) hit back-to-back 3-pointers to spark a 17-0 run. Nicholas scored eight points, including two 3-pointers during the run.
North Carolina A&T (2-5) had 11 of its 22 turnovers while being outscored 45-30 in the second half.
Richaud Pack scored a team-high 19 points. Lamont Middleton scored 15 points before fouling out, and Jeremy Underwood added 10 to lead North Carolina A&T.
Monmouth also defeated visiting Mississippi Valley State, yet lost games to St. John’s and Penn State. North Carolina A&T also lost to Georgia Tech, Mississippi and Longwood during the Barclays Center Classic.
