ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP)—Justin Grant scored 19 points as Indiana State defeated host Alaska-Anchorage 97-87 in the Great Alaska Shootout on Friday.
Indiana State (4-2) guards Dawon Cummings and Jake Odum combined for 19 assists - 9 and 10 respectively. Cummings finished with 15 points and Odum added 13. Manny Arop made 3 of his 6 shots from behind the arc and had 17 points.
Kyle Fossman tied a career-high with 28 points, including 5-of-9 shooting from 3-point range, for Alaska-Anchorage (5-3). Brian McGill added 19 points and seven rebounds for the Seawolves.
Indiana State was in front of Alaska-Anchorage, a Division II team, 46-43 at halftime. But the Sycamores started the second half with a 13-3 run.
Grant controlled the paint for much of the game, helping Indiana State to a 37-26 advantage on the glass.
