CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP)—Anthony Stitt made four 3-pointers and scored a season-high 21 points as Charleston routed Furman 89-55 on Saturday.
Canyon Barry scored 15 for the Cougars (2-3), including a game-opening layup and a jumper in the paint that put Charleston in the lead for good, 14-13 at 13:14 of the first half. The teams were tied twice and swapped one-point leads four times to that point. Charleston led by as many as 38 in the second half.
Stephen Croone scored 20 and William Gates, Jr., 13 for the Paladins (2-2), who shot only 34 percent from the field - 24 percent in the second half- and were outrebounded 37-28.
Charleston hit 33 of 58 field goals for a season-best accuracy of 56.9 percent. Adjehi Baru and Johnathan Burroughs-Cook scored 14 apiece. The points were a career best for Burroughs-Cook.
The Cougars outscored Furman 38-22 in the paint.
