Northridge repels Montana State rally 74-73Thursday, Nov 21, 2013
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP)—Tre Hale-Edmerson made 1 of 2 free throws with 19 seconds to go and Cal State Northridge survived a late charge from Montana State for a 74-73 victory on Thursday in the Central Michigan Tournament.
Stephen Maxwell led Northridge with 21 points and seven rebounds. Stephan Hicks added 16 points, Josh Greene had 15 and Aaron Parks 12.
The Matadors (2-2) were 30 of 40 on free throws and their ability to get to the line was the difference.
Montana State (0-3) trailed 71-60 with 5:32 left and went on a 13-2 run before Edmerson made the game-winning free throw. The Bobcats had the ball as time wound down, but Antonio Biglow missed a jumper with two seconds left and Flavien Davis missed the putback at the buzzer.
Calen Coleman had 18 points with five 3-pointers for the Bobcats. Marcus Colbert added 17 points with four 3-pointers.
