BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP)—Cullen Hamilton and Malachi Alexander each scored 13 points as Holy Cross defeated Fairfield 63-49 Wednesday night.
The Crusaders (2-2) shot 47.9 percent from the field, with their bench outscoring Fairfield 29-5. Hamilton hit a 3-pointer to open the scoring and give Holy Cross the lead for good, as they had a 29-22 lead at the break.
The Stags (1-3) were just 17 of 51 on field goal attempts and fell behind by as much as 16 late in the second half. They were led by Marcus Gilbert, who poured in a game-high 26 points on 8 of 17 shooting, hitting six 3-pointers. Amadou Sidibe scored six points and hauled in 16 rebounds, with six coming offensively. No other Fairfield player had more than five points.
Hamilton shot 5 of 10 from the field and netted 3-pointers for the Crusaders. Malcolm Miller added 6 points with seven rebounds.
