Northwestern State coasts past LeTourneau 92-76

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP)—Jalan West, Dequan Hicks and Zikiteran Woodley each scored 17 points to lead Northwestern State to a 92-76 victory over LeTourneau in a season opener for both teams Friday night.

The Demons shot 39.7 percent from the field and opened the second half with a 20-7 run as Marvin Frazier hit a pair of free throws to take an 18-point lead. They registered 15 blocks, with Frazier contributing seven.

LeTourneau, which had 25 turnovers in the game, held a slim lead late in the first half prior to Northwestern State’s surge. They trailed by as many as 23 points during the second half.

The Yellow Jackets had four players in double figures as Ladaria Brown scored 14 points and Justin Jones added 13.

Hicks recorded a double double, grabbing 10 rebounds. Woodley, a true freshman, was 6-for-9 from the field and had seven rebounds for the Demons.
