Beaumont, Elon slip past Appalachian State 61-58Thursday, Feb 14, 2013
ELON, N.C. (AP)—Ryley Beaumont had 22 points and 13 rebounds, and Elon scored the last six points of the game from the foul line to beat Appalachian State 61-58 in a Southern Conference game on Thursday night.
Appalachian State led 58-55 on Jamaal Trice’s free throws with 1:11 left, but Beaumont made two foul shots to pull within 58-57 with 58 seconds remaining. After Jay Canty turned the ball over, the Phoenix’s Sebastian Koch made two foul shots for a 59-58 advantage with 5 seconds to go.
A quick foul put Jack Isenbarger on the line with 3 seconds left, and he made both to seal the victory.
Isenbarger scored 16 points and Koch 11 for Elon (17-8, 10-3), which lost to the Mountaineers 80-70 on Jan. 12 but is 9-1 since.
Canty had 17 points and nine rebounds, and Nathan Healy scored 12 for the Mountaineers (11-14, 7-7).
