Wagner wallops Fairleigh Dickinson 68-55

NEW YORK (AP)—Kenneth Ortiz scored 22 points and Wagner ran away early from Fairleigh Dickinson for a 68-55 victory Saturday in Northeast Conference play.

The Seahawks (8-5, 2-0) got a double-double from Mario Moody, who scored the game’s first six points on two foul shots and two dunks. Wagner led 31-19 at halftime and coasted home.

Ortiz’s 22 points came on 8-of-11 shooting. He made both of his 3-point attempts and 4 of 6 foul shots. Moody grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double and blocked three shots.

For Fairleigh Dickinson (6-8, 1-1), Kinu Rochford recorded a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds—nine offensive. Lonnie Robinson added 15 points.

Wagner outrebounded Fairleigh Dickinson 45-32, outscoring the Knights 34-22 in the paint. The Seahawks, who had a 12-0 edge on fast-break points, shot 46 percent (23 of 50) from the floor, the Knights 29.3 percent (17 of 58).
