Young, who came in averaging 20.8 points, hit two free throws to move the lead back to seven points, and Shane Rillieux responded with 1 of 2 for Nicholls State.
On IUPUI’s next possession, the Jaguars ran the shot clock down, but Ian Chiles missed a 16-footer. Young grabbed the offensive rebound and made a layup for a 78-70 lead with 1:25 to go.
Christian Siakam and Stephen Thomas scored 14 points each for the Jaguars, and Chiles added 13.
Talkington led the Colonels with 16 points, and Rillieux had 15.
