WICHITA, Kan. (AP)—Garrett Stutz scored 24 points and pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds, and Wichita State moved into a first-place tie in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 71-66 victory over Indiana State on Saturday night.

Toure Murry added 14 points and Carl Hall had 13 off the bench for the Shockers (20-4, 11-2), who improved to 18-2 in their past 20 games. Wichita State tied No. 13 Creighton, which lost at the buzzer to Northern Iowa earlier Saturday.

Wichita State took the lead for good on two Hall free throws with 12:15 to play. But the Sycamores stayed within single digits the rest of the way, pulling within 66-62 on an Odum 3-pointer with 45 seconds left. The Shockers made five free throws after that to secure the win.
