Simmons, Houston coast past Texas A&M-CC 87-66

HOUSTON (AP)—Jonathon Simmons scored a game-high 22 points, including four 3-point baskets, to lead Houston to an 87-66 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday night.

Houston (4-3) also dominated the glass 43-28 as TaShawn Thomas gathered 12 and Alandise Harris had 11. Thomas also blocked four shots.

Houston had three other scorers in double figures—Leon Gibson (16), Thomas (12) and Joseph Young (12).

The Cougars had the game well under control in the first half, hitting 16 of their 30 field-goal attempts for a 50-33 lead at halftime. They also finished the game with 26 second-chance points.

Hameed Ali led Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (1-5) with 15 points, and Terence Jones scored 12.
