ORLANDO, Fla. (AP)—Isaiah Sykes scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, both career highs, to lead Central Florida 67-48 over Hartford on Saturday.
Marcus Jordan had 13 points and Tristan Spurlock added 10 points and 11 rebounds for UCF (5-2).
Mark Nwakamma led Hartford (0-8) with 12 points.
Hartford cut what had been a 19-point first half deficit to 44-40 on Wes Cole’s 3-pointer with 10:15 left in the game, but turnovers and foul trouble caught up with Hartford and the rally quickly died.
UCF outscored the Hawks 20-4 over the next 6 minutes to seize control of the game. Sykes had nine points in the run as the Knights pulled away.
Jordan scored eight points, including back-to-back 3-pointers, during a 21-0 run that gave UCF a 25-6 lead with 14 minutes left in the first half. Hartford committed four turnovers and missed seven shots during that stretch.
