KINGSTON, R.I. (AP)—D’Aundray Brown scored 14 points and Trevon Harmon added 11 as Cleveland State rallied to beat Boston University 63-62 in the subregional round of the Ticket City Legends Classic on Friday.
Cleveland State (5-0) trailed by as many as 10 points, 45-35, with 9 minutes remaining in the second half. But a layup by Brown cut the lead to five, 52-47, with 5 minutes left to play. Brown and Harmon then combined for four 3-pointers and Aaron Pogue made two free throws during a 14-10 run in the final 5 minutes of play.
Boston University (0-4) controlled the ball and the lead, 62-61, with only 5 seconds remaining. But a Matt Griffin turnover forced the Terriers to put Cleveland State’s Jeremy Montgomery on the line in the game’s closing seconds.
Montgomery made both free throws, giving Cleveland State a 63-62 lead and sealing the victory for the Vikings.
