DURHAM, N.H. (AP)—Alvin Abreu had 19 points to lead four New Hampshire scorers in double figures as the Wildcats eased past Suffolk University 85-64 on Friday night.
Chandler Rhoads added 18 points and Brian Benson had a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 16 rebounds for New Hampshire. Jordon Bronner also chipped in with 15 points for the Wildcats, who are 5-0 all-time against the Division III Rams.
The Wildcats began their season opener on a 7-0 run and led 51-30 at halftime en route to victory.
New Hampshire shot 53.2 percent (33 of 62) from the floor compared to a 46.3 percent (25 of 54) mark for Suffolk. The Wildcats also had only 14 turnovers against 19 for the Rams.
Colin Halpin led Suffolk with 17 points, Justin Barall had 15 and Jevic Muteba added 11. Matt Pepdjonovic grabbed 11 boards for the Rams.
