Mitchell leads Rutgers past DePaul 68-64

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP)—Jonathan Mitchell scored 18 points as Rutgers was able to hold off DePaul 68-64 on Wednesday night.

Rutgers (14-15, 5-12 Big East) led 63-57 after Gilvydas Biruta’s dunk with 1:43 left, but Brandon Young made a pair of free throws and Moses Morgan had a three-point play to get DePaul within 63-62 with 31.1 seconds left.

But Rutgers was able to hold on. Mitchell made a pair of free throws, and after Morgan missed a 3-point attempt, James Beatty made two free throws to make it 67-62 with 19.1 seconds left.

Young scored 21 points for the Blue Demons (7-22, 1-16), who were unable to win a conference home game.

Dane Miller and Beatty each finished with 11 points for Rutgers.
