Memphis hits 3-pointers to beat Houston 69-58

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP)—Tarik Black scored 16 points and Memphis hit a pair of key 3-pointers down the stretch as the Tigers defeated Houston 69-58 on Tuesday night.

Wesley Witherspoon scored 13 points and had seven rebounds, and Charles Carmouche added 12 points for Memphis (21-7, 9-4 Conference USA), including one of the 3-pointers in the final 3 minutes. Antonio Barton finished with 10 points and also had a key 3-pointer.

Alandise Harris led the Cougars (12-14, 4-9) with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while Zamal Nixon and Maurice McNeil added 11 points apiece.

The victory was the Tigers’ fifth in the last six games as they bounced back from a 67-52 loss at Rice on Saturday.
