Central Michigan tops Cornerstone 63-60
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP)—Trey Zeigler scored 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds as Central Michigan snapped a six-game losing streak by beating Cornerstone 63-60 on Wednesday night.
The Chippewas (3-9) shot just 33.9 percent from the field but managed to hold the lead for the final 6 1/2 minutes, even taking a 58-50 advantage with about a minute to go.
The Golden Eagles (13-2) meanwhile shot 43.8 percent from the field, but the NAIA team could never hang on to the few small leads they took in the second half.
Jalin Thomas helped the Chippewas with 13 points while Derek Jackson added 10.
Ronald Bates led Cornerstone with 16 points and Bryan Pasciak scored 11.
