Sacramento State beats William Jessup 65-54
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP)—Sacramento State raced to a 25-point first-half lead Friday night and held on to defeat William Jessup 65-54.
Three players were in double figures for the Hornets (3-6). Sultan Toles-Bey had 12 points and seven rebounds, Zach Nelson 11 points and seven rebounds, and Jackson Carbajal also had 11 points.
Sacramento State ran off 11 straight points in one stretch to take a 34-9 lead with 4:18 left in the first half. It was 38-16 at the break with Nelson scoring seven points to lead the Hornets.
William Jessup rallied in the second half, and got within seven on Anthony Anderson’s 3-pointer with 1:06 to play. But the Warriors (2-9) didn’t score again, and Toles-Bey closed out the scoring with four free throws in the final minute.
Anderson led the NAIA school with 13 points, and Damal Neil scored 10.
