Balanced Loyola, Ill., beats Indiana State 86-74
CHICAGO (AP)—Hot-shooting Loyola, Ill., placed five players in double figures and defeated Indiana State 86-74 Saturday night in the Nick Kladis Classic.
Jordan Hicks led the Ramblers (2-0) with 19 points. Terrance Hill added 17, Geoff McCammon 15, Ben Averkamp 13 and Walt Gibler 10. Loyola shot 51.8 percent (29 of 56) and 47.8 percent (11 of 23) from 3-point range. Andy Polka grabbed a game-best 10 rebounds.
Jordan Printy and Jake Kelly paced the Sycamores (1-1) with 15 points apiece. Myles Walker added 12, and Carl Richard had 11 points and nine rebounds.
Loyola, the host school, won the rebounding battle 38-32.
McCammon’s 3-pointer with 13:45 left in the first half pushed the Ramblers ahead 13-12, and they were never headed after that.
Loyola led 42-27 at halftime. The Ramblers connected on 17 of 32 shots (53.1 percent) in the first half, including 7 of 15 (46.7 percent) on 3-pointers.
