North Texas cruises in season opener 92-66

DENTON, Texas (AP)—Tristan Thompson scored 25 points and Dominique Johnson added career-high 21 as North Texas defeated Henderson State 92-66 in its season opener Friday.

Johnson hit six 3-pointers and the Mean Green took advantage of 31 fouls by the Reddies, hitting 36 of 47 free throws.

Josh French led Henderson State with 20 points.

Kedrick Hogans added 11 points for North Texas, and George Odufuwa collected 11 rebounds. The Mean Green led 45-36 at halftime before pulling away with a 20-11 run to start the second half.

North Texas improved to 10-0 in season-opening games under coach Johnny Jones.
