PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP)—Dominique Jones scored a career-high 46 points, the second-most by a Big East player in a regular-season game, and South Florida mounted a furious comeback in the final minutes of regulation to take a 109-105 victory over Providence on Saturday night.

South Florida (12-7, 2-5 Big East) trailed by 12 with 2:05 remaining and by five with 11 seconds to play before Jones cut the deficit to 95-92. Ryan Kardok stole the ball off the inbounds pass, and when Jones couldn’t find an open look, he passed the ball to Toarlyn Fitzpatrick, who knocked down a 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds left to send the game to overtime.

Jones, who played all 45 minutes and had 10 rebounds and eight assists, led the Bulls with nine points in overtime to complete the comeback. In addition to falling two shy of the Big East regular-season record, his 46 points were the most by a Bulls player since 1982.
