Pacific stays hot, defeats Santa Clara 84-57
STOCKTON, Calif. (AP)—Sam Willard had 15 points and a career-high 13 rebounds to lead Pacific to an 84-57 blowout over Santa Clara on Sunday in the West Coast Classic.
Terrell Smith and Demetrece Young each scored 16 points for the Tigers (3-0), who shot 77 percent from the field in the second half.
Kevin Foster scored a game-high 22 points to lead Santa Clara (2-2), including five 3-pointers. The Broncos shot just 33 percent from the field.
Pacific made 8 of 9 shots from beyond the 3-point arc after halftime, going on a 17-5 run late in the game to build its biggest lead at 29 points.
Pat Eveland (13 points) and Allen Huddleston (nine points, seven rebounds) each came off the bench to help bury the Broncos in the second half, when Pacific scored 51 points.
