Alexander seals SFA’s 66-62 win over UTSA
SAN ANTONIO (AP)—Josh Alexander hit six free throws over the final 11 seconds and Stephen F. Austin won the Southland Conference title with a 66-62 victory against Texas-San Antonio on Saturday night.
Alexander finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds, his sixth 20-point performance and third double-double this season. Matt Kingsley had 19 points and a career-high 14 rebounds for his seventh double-double this season.
The Lumberjacks (21-7, 13-3 Southland) went up 60-56 on a layup by Eric Bell with 22 seconds left, but the Roadrunners answered 7 seconds later on a 3-pointer by Travis Gabbidon.
Alexander was fouled on SFA’s next three possessions, and hit the crucial free throws.
Gabbidon led UTSA (14-15, 8-8) with 16 points.
