Towson beats Northeastern 58-54 in CAA tourney
RICHMOND, Va. (AP)—Junior Hairston scored 14 points and Troy Franklin added 13 to lead Towson to a 58-54 win over Northeastern on Saturday night in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.
The 11th-seeded Tigers (11-21) knocked off the third-seeded Huskies (18-12) one night after upsetting No. 6-seed Drexel in the CAA tournament’s opening round. Towson will play No. 2 seed George Mason in the semifinals on Sunday.
The Tigers, who went a combined 0-3 versus Northeastern and Drexel during the regular season, have won two straight games for the first time since the start of January.
Manny Adako, who finished with 23 points for the Huskies, was the only Northeastern player to score in double figures. Chaisson Allen added 10 rebounds.
Towson’s bench outscored Northeastern’s 16-3 in the game.
