Texas State beats Texas-San Antonio 80-66

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP)—Brandon Bush scored 28 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Texas State to an 80-66 victory over Texas-San Antonio on Wednesday night.

Brent Benson scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, and had eight rebounds for the Bobcats (14-14, 7-8 Southland). Cameron Johnson scored 10 points and had eight rebounds.

The Bobcats had a 50-38 rebounding edge over UTSA (17-11, 8-7) and a 15-7 advantage in second-chance points.

Joey Shank and Devin Gibson led UTSA with 12 points. Omar Johnson scored 11 and Morris Smith IV added 10 points.

The win kept Texas State’s conference tournament hopes alive. Texas-San Antonio has already qualified for the tournament.
