Colgate beats Navy 64-59 in OT
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP)—Ben Jonson recorded a double-double, scoring 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, to help Colgate upend Navy 64-59 in overtime in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League tournament on Wednesday night.
Yaw Gyawu added 20 points, including the final four points of the game on free throws to seal the win for the Raiders (10-19). Mike Venezia finished with 13 points, including going 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.
Gyawu also scored the final points of regulation for Colgate on a layup that put the Raiders up 54-52 with 1:48 to play. But O.J. Avworo’s layup with 1:32 left tied the game for Navy, and neither team scored again in regulation.
Kaleo Kina paced the Midshipmen (19-11) with 23 points and Avworo had 11.
The Raiders ended the regular season on a five-game losing streak, including a 77-64 loss at Navy in the season finale.
