Southeastern Louisiana defeats McNeese State 71-61
LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP)—Patrick Sullivan scored 17 points to lead five Southeastern Louisiana players in double figures in a 71-61 victory over McNeese State on Wednesday night.
The Lions (12-16, 6-9 Southland Conference), who have won three straight games, knocked the Cowboys (11-17, 5-10) out of a trip to the conference tournament, which begins next week in Katy, Texas.
McNeese State led by 10 points with 10:27 left in the first half, but Southeastern Louisiana rallied and took a 37-30 advantage into halftime.
The Cowboys shot 34.6 percent from the field (9 of 26) in the second half to lose their fourth consecutive game.
Damon Forest and Warrell Span scored 12 points each and DeShawn Patterson and Brandon Fortenberry added 11 each for the Lions.
Kleon Penn and Elbryan Martin scored 11 points each to lead McNeese State.
