Bethune-Cookman tops Winston-Salem 64-49
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP)—C.J. Reed scored 21 points and Bethune-Cookman defeated Winston-Salem 64-49 on Monday night.
Bethune-Cookman (15-15) held a 27-16 lead with 2:26 left in the first half, but Winston-Salem went on a 17-6 run to tie the game at 33 on a Brian Fisher free throw with 16:03 left in the game.
Reed took the lead back for the Wildcats on two free throws for a 35-33 advantage with 15:16 remaining.
The Rams (8-20) trimmed the deficit to 48-47 with 9:51 left, but the Wildcats scored 13 straight points for a 61-47 advantage on a Kevan Creppy layup with 1:40 left on the clock.
John Holmes added 15 points for the Wildcats and Creppy chipped in 10. Alexander Starling grabbed 11 rebounds for Bethune-Cookman, which outrebounded the Rams 40-18.
Fisher scored 21 points for Winston-Salem.
