VMI defeats High Point 81-76
HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP)—Chavis Holmes scored 19 points and Virginia Military Institute defeated High Point 81-76 on Saturday night.
The Keydets (22-7, 13-5 Big South Conference), who leads the nation in scoring at 94.8 points per game, had three other to players score in double figures against High Point. Austin Kenon scored 16 points, Michael Sparks added 12 and Travis Holmes finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Nick Barbour led the Panthers (9-20, 4-14) with 15 points, Cruz Daniels and Melvin Crowder scored 14 each, and David Singleton added 10.
The Keydets, who had 23 fast break points, scored 25 points off of 21 High Point turnovers.
The Panthers outrebounded VMI 56-37, as Daniels led the way with 20 rebounds.
The Keydets clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Big South tournament after defeating Liberty 109-72 on Tuesday.
