Texas Southern beats Alabama A&M 77-71
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP)—DeAndre Hall scored 20 points, hitting two free throws after grabbing a defensive rebound with 19 seconds left to help seal Texas Southern’s 77-71 win over Alabama A&M on Saturday night.
Matthew Miller added 19 points, shooting 3-for-3 from beyond the arc for the Tigers (5-23, 5-10 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Nick Walker chipped in 10 points for the Tigers, who won back-to-back games for the first time this season. Texas Southern opened the season with 14 consecutive losses.
Jacques Jones scored eight points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out four assists.
Trant Simpson led the Bulldogs (7-16, 5-10) with 24 points and Jonathan Inman had 11. The Bulldogs have lost five straight.
Texas Southern went 5-for-8 from beyond the arc in the win compared to Alabama A&M, which was just 1-for-9.
