NC Central knocks off Longwood 82-64
DURHAM, N.C. (AP)—Jamar Briscoe scored a career-high 37 points to help North Carolina Central defeat Longwood 82-64 on Saturday night, snapping an eight-game losing streak and beating the Lancers for the first time in five tries.
Longwood took a 109-89 victory over the Eagles on Wednesday, when Briscoe matched his previous high of 34 points.
This time, Briscoe went 14 of 22 from the field, 3 of 9 from 3-point range and 6 of 6 from the line for the Eagles (3-26), who had not won since beating Central State of Ohio 74-68 on Jan. 16.
Nick Chasten added 11 points for N.C. Central and Bryan Ayala had 10 points and six assists. Ayala moved himself into second place on the Eagles’ career assists list with 364, passing Donald Sinclair, who had 360 from 1979-81.
The Lancers (16-14) are 3-12 on the road this season.
