Holy Cross defeats Lehigh 64-49
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP)—Pat Doherty scored all of his seven points during a decisive second-half run, helping Holy Cross to a 64-49 win over Lehigh on Saturday.
R.J. Evans scored 15 points, sparking Holy Cross (16-13, 11-3 Patriot League) as they closed the first half on an 8-2 run to take a 27-16 at halftime.
Then Doherty, the starting point guard who was injured most of the season, keyed the decisive second surge as the Crusaders stretched the advantage to 50-30. He converted a 3-pointer and a short jumper in the run, finishing with five assists. Evans’s dunk capped the rally with 8:10 remaining.
Rob Keefer scored 13 points to pace Lehigh (15-13, 5-9).
Holy Cross finished second in the league. With the defeat, Lehigh fell out of a fourth place tie.
