East Tennessee State defeats Mercer 103-81
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP)—Courtney Pigram scored 38 points, hitting a school record 10 3-pointers to lead East Tennessee State to a 103-81 victory over Mercer on Saturday.
The Buccaneers (20-10, 14-6 Atlantic Sun Conference) earned the No. 2 seed for the conference tournament, which begins Wednesday in Nashville, Tenn.
Pigram went 13 of 30 from the field, attempting 23 shots from behind the 3-point line. His 10th 3-pointer gave East Tennessee State a 93-66 lead with 6:50 remaining in the game.
Kevin Tiggs added 24 points for the Buccaneers, who led by 32 points with 5:24 left, set a season-high in points and won for the third time in seven games.
Mike Smith added 17 points and Isiah Brown had 11 rebounds for East Tennessee State.
James Florence led Mercer (17-14, 11-9) with 27 points. Daniel Emerson had 15 points and 12 rebounds.
