Dartmouth beats Columbia 67-53
HANOVER, N.H. (AP)—Alex Barnett scored nine of his 22 points in a decisive 13-0 blitz early in the second half and Dartmouth defeated Columbia 67-53 Saturday.
With Columbia leading 35-33, Barnett scored on a 3-point play, then hit consecutive 3-pointers. Marlon Sanders and Robby Pride capped the run by hitting two free throws apiece, putting the Big Green ahead 46-35. Barnett hit two free throws as Dartmouth (9-17, 7-5 Ivy League) extended the lead to 50-36, and Columbia never got closer than nine again.
Jason Miller and K.J. Matsui each had 19 points for Columbia (11-15, 6-6), which hit only 5 of 24 field goal attempts in the second half.
Columbia led at the half, 31-25, hitting 59 percent of its shots.
Dartmouth shot only 41 percent in the second half, but hit 18 of 20 free throws and finished with 25 of 28.
