Coppin State routs Md.-Eastern Shore 79-57
BALTIMORE (AP)—Michael Harper scored 22 points to lead four other Coppin State players in double figures in a 79-57 rout of Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday.
Mike Buckley and Lenny Young added 14 points apiece, Tywain McKee had 12 and Brian Chesnut chipped in 11 for the Eagles (12-17, 9-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Harper went 5-for-10 from beyond the arc, McKee added nine assists and Chesnut had eight rebounds for the Eagles.
Chris Conner paced the Hawks (7-21, 3-12) with 18 points, while Neal Pitt scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Eagles led by 11 points at halftime and outscored the Hawks 45-34 in the second half to seal the win, which was Coppin State’s fifth victory in last six games. The Hawks have dropped three straight and nine of their last 10.
Coppin State hit 11 3-pointers, while the Hawks managed to sink five.
