Fairfield ends 4-game skid, beats Manhattan 56-55
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP)—Mike Evanovich scored 17 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead Fairfield over Manhattan 56-55 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action Friday night.
The Stags (16-13, 9-8 MAAC) rallied from a 10-point deficit in the second half to end a four-game losing streak and clinch their first winning season since 2003-04.
Yorel Hawkins added 15 points and Herbie Allen added 13 for Fairfield.
Darryl Crawford scored 23 points while Andrew Gabriel added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Jaspers (16-12, 9-8).
Manhattan used a 10-0 run in the second half to take a 39-29 lead with 13:33 to play, but a makeshift Stags lineup without four starters kept chipping away.
Hawkins< dunk with 55 seconds lead gave Fairfield a 56-55 lead, despite going 0-for-4 at the foul line down the stretch.
