Troy defeats Louisiana-Lafayette 81-67
LAFAYETTE, La. (AP)—Brandon Hazzard scored 19 points, Kenny Ware added 18 and Troy never trailed in an 81-67 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Thursday night.
The Trojans (18-11, 13-4 Sun Belt Conference), coming off an 87-86 loss to Florida International on Feb. 19 that snapped their 10-game winning streak, avenged an 83-81 loss to the Ragin’ Cajuns on Jan. 10.
Troy shot a sizzling 69.2 percent in the first half (18 of 26) to lead 49-27 at halftime. That proved to be enough of a cushion when the Trojans shot only 36.4 percent after the break (8 of 22).
Despite 29 points from Chris Gradnigo—who was 8-for-14 from the field and 12 of 13 from the free-throw line—the Ragin’ Cajuns (10-18, 7-10) shot 37.9 percent for the game (22 of 58) and 4-for-24 from 3-point range.
Michael Vogler added 12 points for Troy and Tom Jervis had 11 and nine rebounds.
