Mansell 3-pointer lifts Rider over Niagara 90-87
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP)—Harris Mansell hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with six seconds remaining, then added a free throw after a turnover to lift Rider to a 90-87 win over Niagara Wednesday night.
Niagara (21-7, 12-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) battled back from a 50-38 halftime deficit to take an 87-86 lead on a layup by Demetrius Williamson with 27 seconds to play. Rider (15-11, 10-6 MAAC) called time out, and Mansell hit his 3-pointer on the subsequent possession.
Mansell led Rider with 22 points. Ryan Thompson added 21 points and seven rebounds.
Tyrone Lewis had a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds for Niagara. Bilal Benn had 22 points and Benson Egemonye 16 for the Purple Eagles.
