Willen leads Lafayette past Bucknell, 71-68

EASTON, Pa. (AP)—Ryan Willen scored 20 points, including two free throws with 2 seconds left, and Lafayette held off Bucknell 71-68 Wednesday night to snap an eight-game losing streak.

Michael Gruner and Andrew Brown scored 16 points each for the Leopards (7-19, 3-8 Patriot League).

Patrick Behan had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead the Bison (6-20, 3-9), who trailed by 16 midway through the second half. Justin Castleberry added 16 points and Bryan Cohen had 15.

Bucknell led 53-37 on Gruner’s free throws with 10:30 left.

Behan had a three-point play to get the Bison within nine with 7:18 remaining, and Castleberry hit a 3-poitner to pull to 61-55 with 5:08 left.

Castleberry’s 3 with 12 seconds left brought Bucknell to 69-66 and he hit two free throws with 3 seconds left to make it a one-point game. Willen was fouled on the ensuing inbounds play.
